About Mark Clifford
Founder & chief craftsman
Hi, my name is Mark, I am the founder and chief craftsman behind Essenti.
I started my career in the high pressure world of shop and restaurant fit-out. Often working through the night to refit an entire premises to the highest standards using high quality, durable, commercial grade materials taught me a lot about materials and developing multiple skills across trades. This unique experience and working across diverse other projects developed my creative philosophy of “do it right, do it once, make it last and make it beautiful.”
Further developing my skills over many years I moved into the field of working with individual clients in their homes. Creating spaces that delight homeowners and will change their lives gives me an immense amount of satisfaction.
With experience across a wide range of trades, I bring a versatile skill set, a wealth of practical knowledge and a genuine passion for quality craftsmanship to every project.
From carpentry and shop fitting to flooring, roofing, window and door installation and landscape construction, I have worked across a variety of trades, developing the skills and experience needed to deliver high-quality results from start to finish.
- Carpentry
- Shop fitting
- Flooring
- Roofing
- Windows & doors
- Landscape construction
I take great pride in my workmanship, with a particular focus on the finer details that make all the difference. I believe that a job isn't finished until every detail is right, every edge is square and sharp and the final result meets the highest possible standard.
Whether it's a small home improvement or a more involved renovation, I approach every project with the same commitment to precision, reliability and a professional finish.
My aim is simple: quality workmanship, attention to detail and a finish you can be proud of.
Outside of work
Outside of work I enjoy honing my craft further and build hardwood furniture and spend time learning about traditional techniques such as Japanese joinery and carpentry alongside English and European traditional stonemasonry. I’m a keen historian and love working on and learning about period buildings and properties.
